2022 Label Compilation (mixed by todos)

Our annual showcase of individual tracks from ASIP's 2022 label releases and a special continuous DJ mix of this year's music from todos.

After providing 2021's compilation mix, our esteemed journeyman, todos takes the reigns again to interpret this year's label releases. Containing at least one track from each of our releases along with many snippets and samples from others, todos weaves a tapestry that somehow manages to traverse ASIP's potentially most varied year to date.

From the intricate world-building sounds of Gadi Sassoon, Deepchild and Strïe; to the dramatic synthesizers born from Scanner and OKRAA; the granulated textures of Viul & Benoît Pioulard; the delicate keys of ASC; and Illuvia's illustrative DnB footprint; this year's mix seemed impossible to weave together, but todos tied it together in style.

Gadi Sassoon - Solido Platonico (Hania Rani Buka Arpeggio Study) [Free download]

A little extra treat to celebrate the recent release of Gadi Sassoon’s Chaos & Order EP.

After being featured in a few mixes and Gadi’s own sets, we’re pleased to present a study of Hania Rani’s astounding track, Buka which Gadi recently created after obsessing over the piece, recomposing it from scratch in his own unique style.

Along with a free download of the track available on Soundcloud (and a link to the .wav), Gadi has also made the Max for Live plugin he created to produce the track, available as a free download (also here on dropbox).

“A few months back I was studying different arpeggiation styles with my friend Italian producer MACE, and we listened obsessively to Hania Rani’s incredible piece Buka; from there I decided to dive deep into this particularly amazing phrase she has in that piece, and to explore all the ways I could transform it by playing it with synths and resequencing it by using a gridless arpeggiator I made in Max for Live.” - Gadi Sassoon

Gadi Sassoon / Chaos & Order (ASIPV037)

I’m very excited to welcome Gadi Sassoon back to the label with his second release and the Chaos & Order EP. Following his well-received debut album, Multiverse, Gadi has continued in experimental world-building by creating an immersive record that comes to life in various different ways.

Based on three tracks original created for an immersive Quadraphonic system, the release not only features stunning remixes by Olga Wojciechowska, Max Würden and FRKTL, but is accompanied by separate Binaural versions, Atmos versions, and a super-limited 2LP lathe cut featuring the Quadraphonic splits, enabling a custom playback experience for those lucky to snap one up. Not to mention a beautiful print of the artwork by Noah M / Keep Adding.

ASIP - Label Mix for Diamondstein's Nightshift on NTS radio

I was honored to be invited to compile a mix for Diamondstein’s regular NTS Radio show, Nightshift, which features music aligned to its aesthetic of: “Cold winds, empty streets, ambient techno and moody experimental music for night time noir moments.” Always a brilliant listen and a treasure trove of previous guests’ slots to check out.

Aired earlier this month, the mix is now uploaded to the NTS site for you to listen to again. I chose some more storied, dark pieces from the label to compile a little showcase, featuring six unreleased/upcoming ASIP tracks (not shown in the tracklist on the NTS site).

The ASIP mix is for the last hour, with Diamondstein for the first hour.
