Dr. Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann get the heroes treatment by DJKiRA, with a 14 track mix dedicated to their finest productions.
Listening to this all the way through, you are reminded of The Orb’s unbelievable talent as well as their influence on the ambient/IDM genre, with classic tracks such as ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’, ‘Back Side of The Moon’ and ‘A Huge Ever Pulsating Brain…’ sounding as unique and refreshing as their release 15-20 years ago.
I’m loving that DJ KiRA used the Cumulo Nimbus Remix of Little Fluffy Clouds . This remix is the one reason i listen to ‘Cafe Mambo 99′ almost every week since buying it on a dodgy stall in Ibiza 11 years ago (blimey that’s a long time…)
Tracklist:
The Orb – Little Fluffy Clouds (Cumulo Nimbus Mix)
The Orb – Plateau
The Orb – Outlands
The Orb – Vuja De
The Orb – A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld (Aubrey Mix MK 11)
The Orb – Hamlet Of Kings
The Orb – Spanish Castles In Space (Castles In GOA Mix)
The Orb – Into The Fourth Dimension

Thanks to e:klänge for the heads-up.
Also, as a little bonus treat, I have dug out my mp3 of ‘A conversation with Rickie Lee Jones’, which The Orb sampled in ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’. Took me a while to hunt this down a few years ago, so listen back and download the defining element of one of the greatest chill-out tracks of all time…

And whilst we are on the Orb trip, James Bailey kindly pointed out a classic ‘Live Blueroom’ mix which you can download here (Rapidshare d/l). A tad mysterious in its origin, and with no tracklist, it seems like the mix was not part of The Orb’s ‘Blue Room’ single, but instead a mix put together for Chris Coco and Rob Da Banks ‘Blue Room’. If you know otherwise, or can hunt down a tracklist, then please put both me and James out of our misery!
Enjoy your Orb-fest.
